The world will never realize 100 per cent of its goals if 50 per cent of its people cannot realize their full potential. When we unleash the power of women, we can secure the future for all.
UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon [Message for International Women’s Day March 2015]
Rahbar Trust puts a lot of emphasis on the vocational training of girls. Due to cultural issues many young girls in small towns cannot continue with their traditional school education. Five years ago, Rahbar Trust started a school, which now instructs more than 70 girls taught by experienced teachers. In addition to basic schooling, the students are also taught sewing. At the end of their training, Rahbar Trust also equips them with a sewing machine. This, not only makes them indepdent and productive members of the community, but also financially support their families.
We plan to extend this facility in near future to accommodate more students. We are hoping to make this a self sufficient facility so that the experienced girls can start their own small business. We are also considering to offer a comprehensive and well organized certificate / diploma program so that after graduation they can find jobs in market place. No fee is charged to the participants. Many of these girls are supported by a small stipend as they become independent to start sewing clothes themselves.
With the generous support of donors like you, Rahbar Trust is working to hard to empower girls and women in Pakistan and help them gain self-respect and confidence.
